CULVER CADET 1942 Airplane, Continental C-85
Engine: Project.
Legendary AL MOONEY designed this classic wooden,
two place model and features mechanical retractable
landing gear, low drag design and highly efficient
elliptical wings. The CADET was produced only for a
few years with approximately 400 total built. This
RARE Aircraft is a true museum piece with a number
of the remaining 30 examples still flying having been
snapped up for display by Aviation Museums.
The plane offered here was one of the final 25 built
and benefits by the improvements and refinements
that were made during the production era.
This plane was flown until 1962 when it was
purchased to receive a total restoration. Carefully
disassembled it had the fuselage stripped and sanded,
additional wood purchased along with some parts
when the owner had little free time left after devoting
his time to his career at Hughes Aircraft. He carefully
and properly stored the plane and engine where it
remained safely. It has now come out of hibernation
and awaits its chance to be put back into service.
This is an excellent candidate for restoration. The new
owner will also receive lots of paperwork, beginning in
1942 when the plane was new, documents, log books,
receipts and hand-drawn schematics along with books
and manuals for the plane, engine and assorted
volumes devoted to restoration.
The CADET is currently located in Van Nuys, California
(Los Angeles). I welcome and invite personal
inspections. Bruce: (818) 753-1183
